Freezing Friday morning hourly temperatures

Temperatures were at or below freezing for at least five hours Friday morning.

A cold area of high pressure provided ideal conditions for temperatures to plummet Friday morning with light winds and clear sky. Temperatures dropped into the mid-to-upper 20s for most areas around Mid-Missouri.

The low dropped to 22° in Columbia, which broke the previous record of 25° that was set in 1892. The average low for the date is 43°.
