Abnormally dry in Mid-Missouri

Although we had abundant rainfall in the spring, parts of Mid-Missouri are now considered abnormally dry which could lead to drought conditions if dry, hot weather continues. Rainfall for the year is 7 inches above average at 29 inches. But a drier weather pattern settled in during June leaving us 3.5 inches below normal since June 1st.

However, conditions are not nearly as dry and hot as last summer when we  only had 19 inches of rain for the year as of July 11 and were much hotter. The outlook through July 25th is for below average rainfall and slightly above average temperatures.
