March 2012 and 2013 Climate Stats

March of 2012 (59.7) was the warmest March on record by nearly four degrees over the next warmest year 1946 (56.0). The climatological average monthly temperature for March is 44.6. This year, the monthly average temperatures through March 25 is 37.1, which is more than six degrees below average.

The average temperature for the month may not dip too much more as a late-week warm-up will return highs to the upper 50s by the weekend. Currently, March 2013 ranks as the 11th coldest on record.

The coldest March on record occurred in 1960 with an average temperature of 28.5, which is colder than the average monthly temperature of January.
