According to a report by CBSSports.com, Ben Roethlisberger said in a radio interview that has no plans to retire -- barring a major injury that could prompt him to change his mind -- until 2020.
In other words, Roethlisberger plans on playing for another seven seasons in the NFL.
"I feel like I'm in great shape," Roethlisberger told Pittsburgh station KDKA-FM. "I think I can get five, six, seven more years out of this arm and these legs."
Seven more seasons would put Roethlisberger close to his 39th birthday, according to the CBSSports.com report.
Roethlisberger has two more years left on his current contract, an eight-year deal that he signed in 2008 and runs through the 2015 season. He told KDKA that he hopes to have one more multi-year deal before he calls it a career.
"This is home for me and where I want to finish," said Roethlisberger, who is currently 32. "I bleed black and gold."
Roethlisberger even hinted that he and the team may have already begun working on a contract extension.
"Always a chance," he said. "I don't know how realistic it is because they have so many other needs."
