Mizzou coaching search update: April 21, 2014

Central Missouri men's basketball coach Kim Anderson addressed rumors linking him to the vacant Missouri position on Monday.

“The team just returned from having a great meal in Jefferson City with Governor and Mrs. Nixon," Anderson said in his statement. "I am the coach of the Mules. At this time, I will have no comment on any other jobs.”

Anderson led the Mules to a Division-II national title. He was a former player and assistant under former Missouri head coach Norm Stewart. He will turn 59 soon, but is highly-respected coming from the Stewart coaching tree.

Mike Alden met with reporters last Friday to talk about Frank Haith's departure to Tulsa. When asked about Kim Anderson, Alden declined to get into specific coaching candidates.

"Congratulations to him on a national championship and all the great things he’s done in coaching," Alden said at the time. "But we won’t discuss individual candidates."

Missouri is also reportedly looking at Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall, although Marshall's agent said MU officials have not reached out to start talks.
