COLUMBIA, Mo. -

Two establishments failed a recent alcohol compliance check in Boone County.

Wednesday night, the sheriff's department conducted ten alcohol compliance checks at bars and stores in the county. During the check, an underage person attempted to buy an alcohol beverage.

Two businesses failed the check: Jake's Bar on Clark Lane in Columbia and Break Time on Highway AB at Highway 63 near Ashland.

Employees at those establishments were cited for selling liquor to a minor. That information has been passed onto the Missouri State Alcohol & Tobacco Control for further action.

The sheriff’s department says several other business, including Casey's General Store (El Chaparral in Columbia and E. Broadway in Ashland), Beeline Snack Shop (E. Broadway in Ashland and Mt. Pleasant Rd. in Hartsburg) and the Hitching Post (Hartsburg) passed the checks by not selling alcohol to minors.
