TAOS, Mo. -

Two people are in jail for allegedly stealing copper from a Mid-Missouri park. Stephanie and William Fowler were arrested earlier this week just east of Jefferson City.

Cole County authorities say the air conditioning unit and baseball field scoreboards were stripped for wiring at Countryside Park in Taos.

Two gas cans were also stolen out of a supply shed. But after getting a detailed description, the same deputy noticed one of the cans sitting outside a mobile home while responding to a different call on Railroad Street.

That led investigators back to William and Stephanie Fowler.

Damage to the AC unit alone cost more than $700.
