COLUMBIA, Mo. -

The University of Missouri Police said Sunday a female student reported to Residential Life that she had been raped over the weekend.

Police said it happened either late Sunday March 8 or early morning March 9 in the 800 block of Richmond Avenue.

In a news release, MUPD said University officials are working with the victim to make sure she gets the resources she needs.

As of Sunday afternoon, there was no further information.

MUPD said they want the campus community to be aware and informed of crimes that happen on or near the campus so students can make educated safety choices.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call MUPD at (573)-882-7201.
