The Gateway City will soon be home to an IKEA store, according to reports.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that IKEA will build a store in St. Louis. The Swedish retailer will make a formal announcement on Dec. 4.

According to WDAF-TV, the commercial development website NextSTL reports that IKEA will open in the next 18 months. They say the retailer will have a store near the intersection of Forest Park Ave at Vandeventer.

The St. Louis store will be the second location for IKEA in Missouri.

The popular furniture maker held a groundbreaking for a store just outside of Kansas City in July. The 359,000 square-foot store is being constructed in Merriam, Kan. off of I-35, eight miles southwest of Kansas City. That store is set to open in fall 2014.
