COLUMBIA, Mo. -

Police are investigating a shooting near a gas station in central Columbia early Thursday. It happened near the Petro Mart at College Avenue and Paris Road at around 1:45 a.m.

Officers tell ABC 17 News three people in a car started shooting at another car.

The suspect car, described as a dark-colored, new model sedan, was later located in the 1600 block of Towne Drive. When officers caught up to the car, the occupants fled the scene.

Police were able to arrest 28-year-old Corrice M. James for resisting arrest, however, officers do not know if he was involved in the shooting.

It's unknown if the second car was hit or if anyone inside was injured.

Columbia police say the investigation is still ongoing.
