General Motors recalls more than 3 million vehicles
General Motors is recalling more than 3 million vehicles. 1.6 million vehicles are being recalled because of a problem with the ignition switch.
"What I'm hearing is that it's an electrical failure where the vehicle could possibly die while driving, in which case you're going to lose some of your steering, breaking and some of those things," said Mike Mountjoy with the Bob McCosh dealership in Columbia.
Mountjoy said he hasn't had anyone come into his dealership with the issue. But the problem affecting multiple models is being linked to 12 deaths in the United States.

A person owning the above listed vehicles should expect a letter in the mail explaining the problem and the steps to take to get the repairs.
"April 7 is the projected time they'll have the parts available and the information to the dealer to let us know what procedure we're going to go through to make those repairs," Mountjoy said.
In the meantime, Mountjoy said taking items off your keychain to lessen the weight could prevent the failure, but it's not a guarantee.
GM issued another recall Monday affecting 1.5 million more vehicles. A "Service Air Bag" light could lead to air bag failure if ignored by the owner.

Mountjoy said the McCosh dealership will provide rentals for as many people as possible while their cars are being repaired.
Honda has also issued a recall for more than 800,000 2005-10 Honda Odysseys to replace the fuel strainer.
Cracks in the strainer could cause fuel leakage or a fire.
Honda said they expect to ship replacements parts this summer, but did not give further details.
