The man and child at the center of a Colorado Amber Alert thought to have been driving to family in Missouri are found safe in Canada.
Denver ABC affiliate KMGH reported Sunday Monty Turner and his 3-year-old son Luke had been found safe in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada and the Amber Alert had been cancelled.
Monty Turner was in custody Sunday afternoon. Authorities said arrangements were being made to get Luke back to his mother in Longmont, Colo.
Turner was accused of abducting his son Luke from his estranged wife's Longmont home Saturday morning after attacking her.
Longmont police believed the two were headed toward Willard, Missouri along I-70 late Saturday. Monty Turner has family there.
Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Monty Turner's father, Ronald Turner, early Sunday morning near Springfield. He faces charges of being an accessory to kidnapping
Police said Sunday they were not sure what kind of vehicle the two were traveling in. They said the boy and his father might be in a maroon 2001 Dodge Caravan with Colorado tag 576-ZXY; a brown 1997 Ford F350 pickup with Colorado tag 541-YLH or a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Colorado tag 837-UHS.
This is the second time Turner is accused of taking son Luke. His estranged wife, Brandy Turner, said in a news conference Saturday that she and Monty Turner had been wrestling on the floor after he attacked her, as Luke watched on from the kitchen.
"Just, dad, don't hurt him. Just let him be safe. Let him be happy," KMGH reported she said during a news conference.
"I'm sure Luke has pepper spray all over him. He's probably scared to death," KMGH reports she said. "He witnessed his dad attacking me and I was screaming and fighting."
According to Longmont police, Monty Turner is wanted on an arrest warrant for violating bond conditions for failure to appear in court.
Monty Turner is a white, 51-year-old man; 6-feet 2-inches tall, weighing 210 pounds with short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve dark blue shirt and blue jeans.
Luke Turner is a white, 3-year-old boy, standing 3 feet, weighing 28 pounds. He reportedly has blond hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a blue "Lightning McQueen" shirt with blue swim shorts.
Anyone who sees Monty or Luke Turner is being asked to call Missouri State Highway Patrol at 573-751-1000.
