A New Jersey man posted a controversial sign in an effort to get speeding cars to slow down white driving through his neighborhood.

News 12 New Jersey reports that Wayne resident Craig Rovere put up a sign that read, "If you hit one of these kids because you are speeding, you will not need a lawyer." Below the text is a picture of a gun.

Rovere put the sign up after a speeding driver ran down a "children at play" sign on their street that was shaped like a child.

Residents have complained drivers often speed in the area, but Rovere's sign has also drawn complaints. He said he hoped the shock value of the sign would help communicate his point about the dangers of speeding down a residential street.
