What's believed to be the world's oldest message in a bottle has finally reached its destination -- more than 100 years later.

A fisherman pulled the brown glass beer bottle out of the Baltic Sea near Kiel, Germany, last month, Agence France-Presse reported.

Inside is a postcard dated May 17, 1913.

While much of the writing was illegible, researchers were able to track down the author as Richard Platz, then a 20-year-old son of a baker, using the address.

Platz died in 1946.

But his 62-year-old granddaughter, Angela Erdmann, now lives in Berlin and was able to hold the bottle at the International Maritime Museum recently, according to The Guardian.
