Man loses 700 pounds

Lawrence (WIBW) -- A 33-year-old Lawrence man is a fraction of the man he used to be.
Robert Walls of Lawrence, Kan. once tipped the scales at 950 pounds and is now down to 235.
Walls says depression sent his weight spiraling out of control.
"It was just like a snowball effect really. I weighed a little bit over 950 at my highest weight. I couldn't get on an airplane. I couldn't get on a roller coaster, so finally it came to a point where I was like what am I going to do to fix this," he said.
In 2008, Robert took the step of undergoing gastric bypass surgery.
"See even in surgery I'm fly, you see this custom fitted surgical cap," he jokes while he is in a hospital bed rolling into the operation room.
As he lost weight, doctors also removed hundreds of pounds of excess skin.
"There's days where I look in the mirror and I think 'oh hi!' and I'm very confident and cocky," Robert smiles.
While Robert says keeping the weight off hasn't been easy, he says he hopes to inspire others who want to drop pounds.
"Don't listen to anybody, if you think you can do it, do it," Robert says.
