Rock climbing can be a great summer activity. Follow these tips to make sure you stay hydrated during your climb.

Drink plenty of liquids: It’s important to stay hydrated while rock climbing. Make sure you drink plenty of water and other drinks that contain electrolytes. Make sure you start drinking before you are thirsty to prevent hydration.

Dress appropriately: Try to climb in light, loose-fitting clothing. Try to wear a hat to keep your head protected from the sun, and opt for clothing that allows sweat to evaporate.

Pick the right time of the day: When rock climbing, make sure avoid the hottest times of the day. Try to go early in the morning or in the evening when the temperatures might be a little cooler.

Watch for overheating symptoms: If you are rock climbing in the heat, make sure you watch for signs of overheating. If you start to get a headache, develop cramps, feel nauseous and are experiencing heavy sweating, then you should take a break and drink liquids and get out of the sun.
