Christian Bale was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales on January 30, 1974.
Bale’s family moved around quite a bit because of his father’s job – he was a commercial pilot – so the actor spent time living in England, Portugal and the U.S.
The actor’s first ever role was in a cereal commercial in 1983. After that he landed roles on stage and television.
His first big role came in 1987 when Steven Spielberg cast Bale in “Empire of the Sun.”
Bale continued his success from “Empire of the Sun” into the 1990s, when he acted and sang in “Newsies” in 1992.
Bale appeared in “Swing Kids” in 1993.
Some of his other movies in the 1990s include “The Portrait of a Lady,” “The Secret Agent,” “Metroland,” “Velvet Goldmine,” “All the Little Animals” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
In 2000 Bale appeared in “American Psycho.”
He also appeared in “Shaft” in 2000.
In 2004, Bale underwent a dramatic physical transformation after losing weight for his role in “The Machinist.”
In 2005 Bale began perhaps his most noteworthy role as Batman in “Batman Begins.” He also portrayed the super hero in “The Dark Knight (2008)” and “The Dark Knight Rises (2012).”
In 2006 he starred in “The Prestige.”
Bale starred in “3:10 to Yuma” in 2007.
In 2009 Bale played John Connor in “Terminator Salvation.”
In 2010 Bale starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in “The Fighter.” His role earned him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
In 2013 Bale starred in “Out of the Furnace” alongside Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck and Zoe Zaldana.
He also starred in the star-studded “American Hustle,” where he co-starred with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams.
Bale is married to Sibi Blazic. They have a daughter, Emmeline.
